Water management in the Egyptian Delta : problems of wastage and inefficiency
Auteur :RADWAN, L.
Description :
Through a case study of one region the paper seeks to outline the causes and extent of wastage/inefficiencies in the distribution of irrigation water in rural Egypt. By studying water use as a simple supply/demand relationship, it was possible to locate where wastage and inefficiency were occurring. This was seen to be primarily on the supply side, although the inflexibility of farmer demand was also seen to be a significant factor in the mismatch of supply and demand patterns.
