Description :
This paper compares and contrasts the sediment dynamics of the lower Coastal Plain portion of the Neuse River basin, North Carolina, of the past two to three centuries with those that existed before European colonization and expansion. Despite the low slopes and prevalence of sandy, permeable soils, there is reason to believe that soil erosion in the Coastal Plain is occurring at rates that are significant both from a geomorphic and an environmental management perspective.
