Trends of water quality of the Elbe River

Description :
In the nineteens, a rapid reduction of water pollution in the elbe River has been achieved due to limitation of emissions from major industrial sources of point pollution in the upper and middle cours (1994-1995). The non-point sources are playing a key role at the Elbe tributaries. Thus, it will be necessary to evaluate the whole river basin and strenghten natural functions of river ecosystems including their revitalization. - (MS)
