We present some new hypotheses of the formation of the upmost course of the Sázava River in the studied region. Especially important is the orientation of Stržský Brook and the findings of lacustrine sediments in the Veselská Depression westwards and southwards from Ždár nad Sázavou maintained by the upmost course of the Oslava River that later turns to the SE. - (MS)
