Quantitative/dynamic geomorphology at Columbia 1945-60 : a retrospective

Auteur :
STRAHLER, A. N.

Description :
In the late 1940s, a graduate programme of quantitative/dynamic geomorphology replaced a qualitative/descriptive programme in the Department of Geology of Columbia University. The modern form of this new paradigm was defined by Horton's seminal hydrophysical paper of 1945. Columbia research in the late 1950s introduced correlations of morphometric elements with hydrologic factors of rainfall intensity, infiltration and runoff intensity.
