Accelerated erosion by piping in the Eastern Province, South Africa
Auteurs :BECKEDAHL, H.R.

Description :
Piping occurs naturally in many parts of southern Africa. In certain cases, human activity has resulted in the formation of pipes within colluvial soils of the region. Piping is developed where poorly designed backslope drainage systems have been constructed on dispersive soils as part of road cut embankments, or where culverts debouch water onto gentle, well vegetaed slope having a high water retention and increased infiltration. - (AJC)
