Description :
This paper correlates the continental record of glacier fluctuations in western Scandinavia with marine sediment records from the Vøring Plateau area in the Norwegian Sea, which was adjacent to the western flank of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet. The input of ice-rafted detritus (IRD) into the ocean is used as a monitor of glacier fluctuations and, thus, for the calibration of a glaciation curve. There is a close similarity between the glaciation curve constructed from continental records and the IRD curve.
