Archaeological evidence for a former bay at Seaside, Oregon

Auteur :
CONNOLLY, T.J.

Description :
Excavations in 1988 at two of the sites explored previously, the Avenue Q(35CLT13) and Palmrose (35CLT47) sites, provided an opportunity to test the Seaside bay hypothesis. The evidence suggests that the sites bordered a small bay during the time the midden sites were occupied, from at least 3500 to 1000 yr B.P. This study explores the nature and timing of the hypothesized landform changes, based on faunal and sedimentological evidence from the cultural midden sites and environs.
