This study demonstrates the potential for variation in accumulation rates of interregional aerosolic quartz within circum-Pacific sequences of mafic and intermediate volcanic provenance to provide a terrestrial record of Cenozoic climatic change with further potential for correlation to the deep-sea and ice-core records.
