Description :
The objective of this study is to provide a record of the long-term development of forests on dune soils progressively affected by paludification. The assemblage of large fossil tree stems was analyzed to test the pathogen hypothesis and to evaluate the impact of other external factors on hemlock populations, and was compared to the pollen sequence.
