Size variation in the Cape Dune Molerat (Bathyergus suillus) and late Quaternary climatic change in the southwestern Cape Province, South Africa

The A. shows that dune molerat size and rainfall are meaning-fully correlated both in modern samples for which rainfall is known and in fossil ones for which rainfall has been independently inferred. It follows that dune molerat size may be used to gauge past rainfall even at sites where other climatic evidence is lacking.
