Description :
The difference in agricultural strategies of 2 Iban communities located in the hilly interior and the coastal zone of Sarawak, respectively, is studied through interviews, field measurements, and botanical collections. The main difference is the production of wet rice with high yields in the coastal area. The success or failure of these environments as contributors to the subsistence of the communities, and the potentials for development, including introductions of new cash or subsistence crops are discussed.
