The A. outlines the simplified urban belts of Budapest with specific features and spatial processes of the population growth and changes. It can be stated that the consequences of the economic transition after 1989 affected these urban belts in very different ways. The changes, taken place in the social and functional structure of Budapest are displayed by various socio-economic indicators. The sectorial and group interests concerning the spatial development of the town and the different urban belts have gone through substantial changes - (JS)
