Author deals with the geomorphological and ecological landscape structure of Tokaj-Hegyalja Region (NE-Hungary). Foothill areas have a special status in geographical areal structure. The pediments are regarded as connecting landscape units in physical geography and at the same time dividing zone from the human geographical aspects. From the geomorphological point of view in Tokaj-Hegyalja four types of the transitional relief can be distinguished. - (JS)
