The paper deals with the main geographical features of urban transport conflicts in two Central European capital cities Vienna and Budapest. As the author concludes the transport situation in the Hungarian capital is much worse than in Vienna. To solve the most severe problems of urban transport in Budapest it would be necessary to reorganise all the management and administrative system of Budapest Transport Company to break its monopolistic status in public transport and to implement environmentally friendly modes of public and private transport. - (JS)
