Description :
Major developments in the contribution of geomorphology to engineering and environmental management have taken place over the past ten years in the United Kingdom, particularly in the coastal and fluvial spheres. This paper is not focused on the results of specific applied studies, though examples are given, but rather aims to show that the policy, social, and wider scientific context has a profound influence on the opportunities for contribution of geomorphology and the type of work that is done.
