Bed-level adjustments in the Arno River, central Italy

Description :
This bed-level adjustment analysis identified the existence of 2 main phases of lowering : the first, triggered at the end of the past century; the second, triggered in the interval 1945-1960 and characterized by more intense degradation of the streambed. The first phase derived from changes in land-use and land-management practices. The second phase is the result of the superimposition of 2 factors : intense instream mining of gravel, and the construction of the Levane and La Penna dams.
