Description :
Nine different types of beaches were selected, on the basis of configuration (pocket beach or staight beach), profile (cliff, bluff or dunes), whether a river runs on to the beach or not, and the length of the fetches in the directions of prevailing or predominant waves, as key areas for study of the transport and provenance of the beach sediments. The texture, composition, provenance, and transport of beach sediments and the roundness of sediment grains were studied with the purpose to throw light upon that what has happened on the shores of Rhodes.
