Description :
The main objectives of this study were, therefore : to determine average characteristics of velocity profiles above pools and riffles in an attempt to differentiate between grain and form-related stress, and to determine how these characteristics vary with flow discharge. In parallel, an attempt is made to relate average vertical velocity profiles and derived estimates of the components of shear stress to the generally used average reach values derived from energy gradient and mean flow depth.
