Description :
Concentrations of aerosolic quartz and Cs 137 were used to estimate rates of hillslope soil erosion during 1990-91 in the North Halawa Valley on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. These estimates fall within the range of denudation rates estimated previously for Oahu drainage basins. Although the methods used in this study have limitations, the use of aerosol concentrations appears to be useful for allocating fluvial sediment loads to sediment sources in similar semi-tropical drainage basins.
