Biogeomorphology and landscape evolution: the problem of scale

Special issue. Biogeomorphology, terrestrial and freshwater systems

Description :
This paper examines the scale linkage problem with respect to biogeomorphology at time scales intermediate between the evolutionary and the process-response, i.e., at time scale appropriate to landscape evolution. First, the A. presents several theoretical perspectives on scale linkage between geomorphic and ecological (principally vegetation) processes and responses. Then, he will apply them to problems on the coastal plain of the southeastern United States.
