Description :
On a steep northern slope on Red Mountain, a 5x5 m study plot was chosen for its maximum lichen coverage of the same lichen genus Xanthoparmelia in varying growth stages, on a sandstone substrate of consistent lithology. This study will show that specific patterns were found at the lichen-substrate interface indicating different mechanically and chemically weathered zones, that can contribute to the increased weathering and denudation of the landscape.
