Description :
This paper demonstrates the potential for using a composite fingerprinting technique, incorporating both statistically verified composite signatures and a multivariate mixing model, to provide a preliminary integration of spatial provenance and source type information for contemporary suspended sediment fluxes from the upper and middle reaches of the River Exe and River Severn, UK. A nested approach is adopted, whereby sediment origin is initially addressed in terms of the distinct spatial zones constituting each study area, and then in terms of the precise source types within each of these spatial zones.
