Rainfall-runoff relationship over encrusted dune surfaces, Nizzana, Western Negev, Israel

Auteurs :
KIDRON, G.J.
YAIR, A.

Description :
The aim of this study was to analyse the frequency and magnitude of runoff, under natural rainfall conditions, in an arid ecosystem of longitudinal dunes covered by a thin microbial crust. This study is important for the understanding of the redistribution of water resources, of soil development, and of their effect on various biological aspects such as the distribution and composition of the vegetation. In addition, this study is expected to contribute to a better understanding of sedimentary processes taking place within the interdune corridors, extending between 2 adjoining sand ridges.
