Aeolian deposits on a scottish mountain summit : characteristics, provenance, history and significance

Auteur :
BALLANTYNE, C.K.

Description :
This research focuses 1) on establishing the distribution, thickness and sedimentological characteristics of the windblown sediments on the summit of The Storr, 2) on reconstructing the history of aeolian accumulation through radiocarbon dating and pollen analysis of buried and intercalated organic horizons, and 3) on determining the origin and provenance of these deposits. The wider significance of this site for understanding the evolution of high-level aeolian deposits is then assessed.
