Description :
The designation of ENF presents a series of practical difficulties in implementing the afforestation of existing landscapes. It suggests the imposition of new representations of nature-society relations on existing communities. The notion of social nature is used to interpret a variety of narratives which represent the outcomes of the proposals. The narratives were constructed in public meetings with community groups: this methodology offers insightful indications of how different social meanings of nature are placed through the social construction of locality.
