Description :
This work describes the distribution of 45 elements accumulated in 26 samples of surface bottom sediments from the 364.4 km-long Czech part of the Elbe River. The total metal concentration was subjected to factor analysis and cluster analysis. Most of the contaminants in the bottom sediments appear to be bonded to hydrated Fe and Mn oxides and to particulate loading. Possible pollution sources were found by cluster analysis.
