This article attempts to analyse the current climatic variations based on air temperature and precipitation data from 18 stations for the 1916-1993 period. There is evidence of late fall cooling and winter warming in the recent decade. A marked drought set in during 1982-1993, in SW Bulgaria which reached a record level for the last 100 years both in terms of its duration and intensity. Climatological patterns contributing to these observations are discussed.
