Description :
The taxi industry is one of the very last to be deregulated by the government. The A. looks at the impact of 1989 Act. The 1989 legislation has been followed by a tripling of the number of companies in the metropolitan centres. A much wider range of taxi services now exploit different market segments and offer a wider geographic coverage. There is a decline in fares in real terms. Customers have benefited from a greater range of services. Competition from newer organisations have increased.
