The first paper of this issue is on the growth of small independent retailers, their relations of production, and the particularised patterns of consumption on which they depend. The second is on the politics of regulation, retailing and consumption. The third is on the cultural politics of identity as revealed through focus group research with consumers in two north London shopping centres.
