Description :
The rapid development of the western Okayama plain between 1600 and 1900 was largely influenced by much supply of tailings derived from the iron sand mining in the upper reaches of the river Takahashi. This is evidenced by the high frequency of floods in this period and the high percentage of granitic materials including iron slag grains in the alluvial sediments.
