A synoptic climatology of cool-season derecho events

This paper examines synoptic environments associated with cool-season derechos, 1986 to 1995, those events occurring between September and February. Commonalities within the synoptic environments of these events are identified and illustrated in order to recognize favorable conditions for the development of cool season derecho-producing mesoscale convective systems (DMCSs).
