Description :
In this study, a flood climatology of the regulated lower Roanoke River in North Carolina is developed with an explicit focus on the identification of trends in flooding contributed by : 1) climate change and 2) flow regulation from upstream dams. In addition, the effect of such damming upon forest communities is discussed. The methodology developed in this study may be applied to other regulated streams in the southeastern United States.
