This paper explores whether there is sufficient carbon in sediments on Sonoran Desert piedmonts for (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) AMS 14C measurements. After describing the study site and methods, radiocarbon ages from organics found in Sonoran Desert piedmont alluvium are presented. Finally, the limitations of the method and the potential implications of these ages are discussed.
