Description :
This research was designed to test for vegetational edge effects along road corridors through an old-growth beech-maple forest and to discern the effects, if any, of edge age, orientation, and adjacent vegetation structure on edge composition. Specifically, the A. discusses floristic variation among the stand types with respect to prevailing successional theory, focusing on the interplay of species adaptations , especially shade tolerance and site conditions.
