Description :
The record from Lagoa do Caçó contains a marked late-glacial peak in the pollen of Podocarpus, which grows today under moist and cool conditions. Here the AA. describe this pollen record and compare it with records from other parts of equatorial South America. They find that several of these records also contain late-glacial peaks in Podocarpus, and therefore they infer that Amazonia was unusually cool and moist shortly after the last glacial maximum.
