Holocene treeline history and climate change across northern Eurasia

Description :
This paper presents new radiocarbon dates for tree macrofossils from north of the modern Russian treeline. Most of the samples were obtained by systematic sampling at 4 sites located along a longitudinal transect extending from the Kola Peninsula eastward to the Lena River Delta. The AA. combine these new dates with previously published Russian data to reconstruct the Holocene establishment of northern boreal forest and the subsequent history of the Eurasian treeline. They then examine the climatic forcing factors that may have controlled the timing of forest establishment and treeline movement.
