Description :
Marine sediment cores from the continental slope off mid-latitude Chile (33°S), Valparaiso, were studied with regard to grain-size distributions and clay mineral composition. High sedimentation rates and a robust age control, based on C 14 accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) dating, allow a detailed reconstruction of glacial and Holocene climates and a comparison with terrestrial records.
