Mammalian faunas as indicators of environmental and climatic changes in Spain during the Pliocene-Quaternary transition

In this work, 3 approaches are used to interpret climatic and environmental changes since the Pliocene in Spain : a study of species richness of 2 subfamilies of rodents (Murinae and Arvicolinae), an analysis of a faunal sequence with the cenogram method, and finally a quantification of climatic parameters. The dominance of arvicolines, and a clear change at the Pliocene-Quaternary boundary, with cooling and a tendency to increasing aridification, are highlighted.
