Description :
Marine records from the Reykjanes Ridge indicate ice sheet variations and abrupt climate changes. In this paper, sedimentological, micropaleontological, and paleoceanographic records from cores of the northwestern North Atlantic, north of the area of main IRD deposition, are presented. Changes in planktonic foraminifer and coccolith assemblages are monitored, in order to determine the varying advection of warmer surface waters and their role in climate changes in the northern hemisphere through discharge from ice sheets.
