Description :
This paper discusses recent investigations of the lithostratigraphy, pedostratigraphy, geomorphic evolution, and paleoenvironmental implications of lunettes on the Southern High Plains of northwest Texas and eastern New Mexico. The genetic relations of lunettes and playas indicates that an understanding of the age and evolution of the dunes should provide clues to the origin and evolution of the ubiquitous basins which have been debated for over a century.
