Buried soils in a perched dunefield as indicators of Late Holocene lake-level change in the Lake Superior Basin

Auteurs :

Description :
This study uses soil stratigraphy and 14C dating to explore connections among lake levels, characteristics of buried soils, and Holocene dunefield evolution. If periods of high and low sediment supply occured, a record of buried soils may elucidate timing of periods of stability and instability along the banks, thereby providing an indirect record of changes in lake levels within the Lake Superior basin.
