Description :
The crucial point in the glaciation history proposed by Grosswald and Arslanov is the genesis of the upper diamicton at Markhida, interpreted as a basal till deposited under a dynamic, active glacier after about 9500 C-14 yr B.P. The primary aim of this reexamination of the section, therefore, was to establish the age and clarify the genesis of the Markhida Moraine at its type site in order to test the existing models of glaciation in the area.
