Description :
This paper evaluates the potential use of the 210Pbex, 7Be and 137Cs techniques to assess the impact of short-term changes in land use practices in the Polish Carpathians. The work focuses to trace the main suspended sediment sources and sediment delivery dynamics. The depth distribution of fallout radionuclides in undisturbed soils provide a means of establishing the depth of surface erosion during different events. During extreme storm events, the contributing area is greatly expanded and sediment is mobilized from areas which are unconnected to the stream during normal events. – (BJ)
