The A. conceives the history of Burma as a romantic stage drama and relates, in chronological order, the different steps of the events which led to the emergence of a new Burma and the uplifting of the international sanctions pending the democratization of the country. The study tries to give some answers to the question of why a country of people described by so many visitors as being wonderful, has been governed by so many poor leaders for such a long time. Although Aung San Suu Kyi was elected to Parliament with 43 of her fellow members of NLD on 1st april 2012, the struggle for democracy in Burma is still unfinished. - (GL)
