The chief aim of this article is to systematise concepts about innovation in services on the basis of a survey of Polish and foreign literature on the subject. The article consists of two basic parts, of which the first draws on publications concerning the economy and socio-economic geography to discuss the notion of service innovation, a typology of innovation in services, differences between innovation in the manufacturing and services sectors, and the methodology of service innovation measurement. – (BJ)
