Etude des caractéristiques de l'apport en eau de fonte comme composante principale des débits de pointe dans la zone du bassin de la Warta située dans la Basse Wielkopolska

The study involved the part of the basin of the River Warta located within the confines of the Wielkopolska Lowland. Indeed, the several streams in the southern part of the basin that go beyond the borders of the Lowland included within five small catchments not taken account of in the analysis. All tabulations were made for the remaining 12 sub-catchments of the Warta Basin. An analysis of the hydrographs made possible the selection for further examination of four well-marked events of this kind: one from 1965, two from 1971, and one from 1979. Properties of snow cover in the selected catchments were presented, including dates of appearance and decline, duration and thickness. Snow water equivalent values were calculated. Peak high-water events arising out of snowmelt were then characterised as regards dates of appearance, parameters, forms of nourishment, and components to runoff. – (BJ)
