Description :
The notion of a land layout (field pattern) has geodetic, agricultural, biological, economic and geographical connotations. The farm lands constitute rural environment and considerably influence the shape and quality of the landscape. Landscape is understood in the work as the image and a state of the human life environment. The rural land patterns express the organization of the space and determine the appearance of country areas. Historically formed layouts are cultural heritage and it is necessary to protect their most valuable part as a material monument. The paper considers problem of meaning and function of the field pattern in the agricultural landscape. Also it points sources of contemporary regional diversities of land patterns and the distribution of their leading types in Poland. Moreover, the author indicates the ways of perception of the landscape depending on the type of the land layout. – (BJ)
