This article discusses afforestation projects undertaken in agricultural areas as part of EU-funded initiatives, in particular the „Afforestation of agricultural land” activity implemented under the Rural Development Program in the 2004–2006 and the 2007-2013 financial perspective. The first part of the paper addresses afforestation problems on the national scale (macro approach), while the second part focuses on the district of Lipno (micro approach), which, according to the National Afforestation Program, has one of the highest afforestation needs in the country. - (BJ)
