Description :
Local Action Groups (LAGs), or entities associating representatives of local authorities, non-governmental organisations and business people, seek to implement projects enhancing the development of rural areas usually embracing several communes. On the one hand, LAGs are authors of local development strategies (LDSs) for their areas of activity, and on the other, they are beneficiaries of EU assistance funds, while being also institutionally responsible for the implementation of the strategies drawn up and for spending the EU financial means allocated to this purpose. In the peripheral rural areas that include the Lublin and Podlasie Voivodships, a total of 29 LAGs have been set up with budgets of 110 and 66 million PLN, respectively, for carrying out local development strategies. – (BJ)
